Comments: Fishing been excellent with many, many fish over 10 pounds. The rains have started and we are closing the Lodge on July 5th and opening back up Sept 26th Recently the rattletrap bite has been excellent along with the Swimbait bite.....We will post names and catches later this week....... Baccarac is just the Best

Couldn’t wait to get back to share the report from three incredible days of fishing at Lake Baccarac. Dates fished:  June 9 – 11, 2008 Fishermen:  Andy Joiner, Thomas Joiner, Peyton Ashmore and Wesley Gallops Special Occasion:  Celebrating Thomas Joiner’s high school graduation Weather:  Sunny to partly cloudy to overcast to brief shower – temperature 80 – 95 º . Guides: Sixto/Martin; Eddie Bigs and Baits:
Andy: 12-5 pound bass on  Excalibur lipless – purple/white w/orange throat
10-5  on Spro lipless – green/silver
Thomas: 10-5 pound bass on Swimbait – white w/chartreuse tail
Peyton: 10-5 pound bass on Swimbait – white w/chartreuse tail
10-2  on Black/blue jig w/8” black Senko
Wesley: 11-14 pound bass on Black/blue jig w/8” black Senko
10-7 bass on 1 oz Rattle Trap – Chrome w/chartreuse
10-2 bass on 1 oz Rattle Trap – Chrome w/chartreuse
Eight fish over 10 lbs.
Numerous big fish got away including one that hit a swimbait close to the boat and dove hard, taking the anonymous fisherman’s Allstar rod and Shimano Curado reel with him (the $200 fish). Total fish caught over 3 days = 757!  Unbelievable – Great trip!  Thanks for everything.

Comments: The fishing has been excellent with the big jig bite producing the biggest fish. on the afternoon of May 31st Rob Ard had an excellent big bite with his 5 biggest fish weighing 49.5 pounds and also catching 14 fish over 7 pounds

 

From John Velky group of 5 - I just read the attached report and am compelled to reply.  Not to be outdone, our group of five also had an awesome trip. We were very impressed with EVERYTHING about your operation, from the pre-trip communication and logistics to the trip itself.  From the time we left El Paso on the charter flight, we were chaperoned and treated like welcome guests.  Russ, Rene and all the lodge staff went out of their way to be accommodative. Our thanks to each and every one of them. As for the fishing, WOW! We each caught the biggest bass of our lives with at least 20 fish over ten pounds.

 

Tito Woodburn won the big bass pot with a 12.0 and everyone thought they had bigger bass break/pull off during the fight. We switched partners during our trip, but I mainly fished with Narlin, and he was terrific. Very knowledgeable and a joy to fish with. The other guides were Pedro and Mario, and they were outstanding, also. My only regret is that we did not bring more big black jigs, and they were sold out of them at the lodge. The trees and lake bottom must be littered with them.  The bite was definitely with 1 oz and larger black jigs with huge senko/lizard/worm trailers, and we lost what we had early on. Rene showed me his favorite rig and I now know to bring reels spooled with 50# braid with a 50# mono tag end. You definitely lose fewer jigs with that combo!

Comments: Morris and I had a great trip once again. We caught a total of 504 bass. I wear a little counter around my neck. We had 5 fish of 1-10lb 0oz,2 10lb 4oz, 1-11lb 2oz, 1-12lb 1oz. That means of course that we caught 5 bass of 10lbs or more. We had at least 4 others up to the boat that got off that were over 10lb fish. The service, the food, the boats and the guides were, as usual, just great. I hope that an opening during June develops but if it doesn't I will go back in the fall as soon as possible.

Comments: Awesome!!!  Lake Baccarac bass fishing has been just great - tons of 10 lb. bass.  Tommy Rice who just returned, reported an excellent trip - his group catching six fish over 10 lbs.  Will Garrison also just returned to Lake Baccarac and reports four fish over 12 lbs.  Gil Wright's group, flying in a private jet, just an awesome trip, with four bass over 10 lbs. - Bob Gist winning the big fish pot.  The Bert Johnson group catching four or five 10 lb. bass a day.  The area near Rancho Padre is producing the best action on Baccarac, the big fish coming from the islands near Russo's pass.  The hot bait this week has definitely been 1 1/2 oz. rattletraps.

 

Now read this one: Ben and Kevin Suit just returned from fishing Baccarac 6 days ..this is a list of all the bass over 8 pounds: 8.9, 8.1, 8.12, 8.10, 8.8, 8.2, 8.8, 8.11, 8.2, 8.6, 8.8, 8.14, 8.8 fish over 9 pounds: 9.14, 9.6, 9.3, 9.11  fish over 10 pounds  10.10, 10.12, 10.5,  bass over 11 pounds 11.14 and a 12.4

 

Also this just in: from Mel Hanson -- Greg Hedlund and I had our best bass trip at Baccarac Lodge, our best bass, 11.3 - 10.9 -10.6 & 10.5, we also caught 20 bass between 8# and 10#, with this excitement we had 2 monsters break 20# test line, just a fantastic trip. The accommodations are the very best in Mexican Bass fishing, I have had. Our guide Sixto was the very best, a great bass fisherman and also just a fine gentleman, a fun person to be on the water with. We will be back to lake Baccarac next year.

Comments:  Awesome!!! I really can't add much to it.  It is just awesome.  Right now, we are catching bass all over the lake using swimbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, crankbaits. I can't even say that color has a whole lot to do with it.  There are literally too many 10 lb bass reported to post.  Clients reported unbelievable numbers of 8 to 10 lb. bass and reported "best trip ever."  We are going to stick our neck out and make a simple statement:  Lake Baccarac is probably the best lake in the world right now.

Comments: The best action is being produced throwing the Big Bill Dance Crankbaits.  Dan Johns caught a 12.2 on a pearl swimbait Mark Mabe caught 11.0 on a black jig Mel Hanson called after returning from his trip. 20 bass from 8 to 11 pounds caught...   Tons of big bass caught this week...The lake is only getting better and better

Comments: GET YOUR BASS DOWN HERE! The Ranch area doing the best for numbers and also big fish. Kerry Adair from Amarillo caught a 11.6 while Chris Scharbauer also caught a 10.5..Perry Williams caught a 9.5 . The last afternoon on the water Kerry, Chris and Perry found a honey hole that produced a 100 bass without even moving the boat...RED HOT action! The best action is being produced throwing the Big Bill Dance Crankbaits.

Baccarac! The Best in Bass. GET BASS DOWN HERE! Overall excellent with some boats catching over 100 fish per session

The Fred Dawson Group:  Fred Dawson caught a 9.8, 8.2, 8.3, 8.8 8.1 and 3 over 7 pounds - Kevin Byrne ( first Bass Trip ever ) 8.0 and a 8.25 - Chet Cowsan 9.1, 9.2, 9.13, 10.3, 10.1, 10.12 - John Garrison 8.2, 8.14 9.2 and 10.4 Steve Berg 8.2, 9.0 and the " The Elf" Andy Joiner caught 10.0, 10.11, 11.3, 11.6 and 12.4

Joe Annae group of 2 from In caught an amazing 22 bass 10 pounds including 3 over 12 pounds
Bill Q group of one from Bills Bait and Tackle 4 over 10 pounds with 25 over 8 pounds  all 10 pounders caught on topwater using a Zara Spook

Gil Wright fishing with Bob Gist 10.0, 10.5, 11.14, 12.0 and a 13.3,,,,did not count anything in the pound range

Steve Gilcreast and Paul Kenndy 12.14, 12.1, and 11.3 huge numbers caught

The Coach! The Bobby Knight group: Coach Knight caught 10.13 using his Fly Rod along with outstanding numbers of bass caught on the surface Ross Jones caught a 9.5, 9.7 and 10.11 Randy Farley10.1 and a 10.6 lots more big fish to report...more later

Comments:  Nothing short of Excellent for the bigger fish.
 
Joe Gaulhauser 78 years old caught 7 over 10 with the biggest one being 12.11...." best trip of my life" all the bigger fish came in the clear water using 7" Rapala Blue Floating Minnow
 
Randy and Trey Black just had a an excellent trip Trey Black 5 1/2 years old ...that's right 5 1/2 years old caught a 11.2 pound bass with ole Randy catching a 12.0 pound  bass
 
Brad Newsome " To good to be True" report from Brad:  4 fish over 7 pounds using my Jerk bait Kit from Bass pro shop, the suspending Jerk baits worked the best ...Also we had 14 bass from 8.2 pounds to 11.3 pounds and most all of them where caught on a Lucky Craft Live Sammy it was gold in color

Chuck Beckum caught a 13lb 12oz
Jim Ries caught a 12.0, 11.10, and 10.4 along with countless bass over 7 pounds
Russ and Rene got to spend a little time on the water and found a honey hole near the famous Russo Inland on the north rock pile catching and releasing 15 bass over 10 pounds most all of there bass caught on 1 oz Black Jigs tipped with watermelon Russdingers

Comments: After taking a few days off at the Lodge for the Easter break we are back the water. Sonny Talkington has been have great luck and actually landed 7 bass over 10 pounds on Wednesday using Husky Jerk Baits

 

Guide Chino and his brother Eddie have been on the big fish bite. Since Thursday morning the 27th of March Gary Boberg, Mike Connolly, Scott Francis and Steve Chindgren have caught in 3 days of bass fishing on Lake Baccarac:

 

20 bass over 10 pounds
17 bass over 11 pounds
7  bass over 12 pounds
6 bass over 13 pounds
3 bass over 14 pounds
1 bass over 15 pounds
1 bass over 16 pounds

Comments: Overall the past few days have been excellent some sessions have been slow but it never last long, somebody comes back to the Lodge with a trophy.

Hot! Hot! off of Press,,, Dale Conover caught 18.8 pound bass that was 29 1/2 inches long and 22 inches around.

Cole Paulson reported catching 141 fish in his boat today March 20th with 17 fish over 8 pounds ...Cole highly recommends Pedro as a guide 

March 19th Tog Rogers from Houston Texas had an excellent topwater morning catching a 11.2, 10.6, and 10.1 using bone colors super spooks

 

Group arriving on March 15th had an excellent morning on 17th of March  Dale Conover caught 2 fish over 10, Mike Conover caught 1 over 12, Brad Taylor caught 13.6, 10.5, 11.6 Ed Portier caught 2 over 10 with a 10.6 being the biggest, Dillion Taylor caught a 10.11 and Cary Reggi caught a 11.7.........that is a morning of fishing! Tom Lanford caught 10.4, Ron Picklt caught 10.0 John Simmns caught 11.4 Derek Krider group of 12 had excellent results with all catching huge fish according to the Lodge Derek caught 10.4, 12.11, 14.3 Randy Sweigart group of 6 caught 12 fish over 10 pounds.
