Argentina Dorado Fishing - Estancia La Pelada
Dorado Fishing in Argentina
If you haven't tried it, Argentina Golden Dorado fishing is totally unique and hard core. Their sharp teeth and explosive leaps make them the strongest, meanest and most aggressive fish in Corrientes. This fish hits like a tuna and jumps like a tarpon! Dorado fishing is similar saltwater fishing but in fresh water. You never know when something really huge is going to strike!
Dorado fishing is the most exhilarating freshwater fishing you will ever do- and the best Argentina Dorado fishing waters are in Esquina, Corrientes. We have united 4-star ranch accommodations, the finest guides, and diverse dorado fly fishing waters. In the province of Corrientes, we fish for this native beauty near the confluence of the Corriente and Parana Rivers systems which have been designated an ecological reserve with restrictions on hunting and fishing.
Argentina has recently taken a major step in preserving the Golden Dorado or Salminus Maxillosus by declaring it the national fish of Argentina starting January 1, 2008. It is now unlawful to harvest a single dorado inside Argentina! Now our prime waters are guaranteed to become ever better in the future.
After considering several lodging options in the area we were certain that Estancia La Pelada was the best choice. For group larger than 8 persons, we use Posada Hambre located within the town limits of Esquina. Estancia La Pelada sits on the banks of the Corriente River, 35 kilometers north of the confluence of the Corriente and the enormous Parana River. This Spanish Colonial style estancia has a classical feel, yet it is only about 40 years old. This is a working cattle and horse ranch, with 10 gauchos (cowboys) working year round. Some of the finest and rarest polo horses in Argentina are kept at Estancia La Pelada.
The sub tropical climate of northern Argentina is teeming with exotic wildlife such as water buffalos, the capybara, caiman, and hundreds of large and small birds. The bio diversity extends below the water as well. In addition to dorado, you’ll be catching other endemic species such as Palometas, Piranhas and Dogfish. Our fishing guests should feel very comfortable inviting their non-fishing or spouses or companions to accompany them in Esquina, Corrientes. Non-angling guests can enjoy multiple activities at La Pelada Ranch such as the pool, bird watching, horseback rides and hikes. For non-fishing guests who enjoy bird hunting, we have exceptional Argentina dove hunts which can be enjoyed all year.
