There are devoted fishermen that travel the globe in search of giant Tarpon, and there are those that just want great rod-bending in paradise. Coincidentally, Holbox Fly Fishing Lodge has both. The Tarpon can reach 200 pounds in April to September and there are 20 to 50 pounders available year round along with plentiful Barracuda, Snook and a few Bonefish and Permit. So if angling action in paradise is of interest to you - as well as your non-fishing partner - come visit Holbox. You'll be treated like loyalty, you'll make friends and experience the trip of a lifetime. Each trip includes a Cancun Airport or hotel pick-up and 2 hour van transfer to the small fishing village of Chiquila. A small boat will transfer you to the island of Holbox - your home for the next few days. Guests generally arrive on Saturday (although not always) and settle in the first day, getting ready for their early start in the morning. Fishing days start at 5 am with coffee to your door wakeups, a continental breakfast and 8 hours fishing in the oceans or lagoons. Adventure travel options begin later in the morning. Lunch and drinks are provided during the day's activity. Bring your favorite rods (see individual species for recommendations), you can get your license on the island ($25/week).

• A deposit of $1,000 per guest is required within 10 days of the reservation request. The balance is due 60 days prior to scheduled arrival at Holbox Island Lodge.

Season

 

The fishing around Holbox is available year round but The large tarpon really start showing up in May and exit in late September. The weather is calm and hot through the summer but the tarpon fishing is awesome. Beat the fly wise tarpon in Florida and come down here for your tarpon fix. You will jump fish and hopefully land a few!!. A grand slam is likely from April through September!
