Venezuela Sportfishing La Guaira Bank Pricing
Trip Details

In Venezuela blue marlin can be caught year around, but it's the winter and spring (Jan - May) that bring their larger concentrations to La Guaira waters. It is then that our boats average 4 to 8 shots per day, and have caught as many as 12 during a single full day charter. In the spring of 1999, 40 boats fishing the La Guaira Shootout set a new world record for most blue marlin caught during a tournament, amassing an incredible 256 blue marlin releases, more than 300 total billfish catches, and 11 grand slams achieved by participants in 3 days. Fishing for the blues centers around the famous La Guaira Bank, known locally as "El Placer," an underwater mound that rises nearly 50 fathoms from a 140-plus fathoms depth of the surrounding bottom. About 4 miles wide and 14 miles long, La Guaira Bank is just a brief 30 to 40-minute run from where the boats are docked. Aside from the incredible blue marlin action, the run of white marlin that takes place in La Guaira during the fall (August - December) is unparalleled and lets not forget the sailfishing. Many anglers easily amass double digit releases then, and some of our boats have recorded over 30 in a single day.
